The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekannen

I’ve been struggling with books as of late. Nothing has really gripped me. I think it’s because I’ve been reading books more outside my favorite genre. That is why I picked up The Wife Between Us. I had heard some good things about it, and it’s part of that suspenseful/keep you guessing genre that I love.

The Story

When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous ex-wife.
You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love.
You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle.
Assume nothing.

Twisted and deliciously chilling, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage – and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

My Thoughts

It’s true that I prefer books that make me thing. I want to try and solve the problem or the puzzle before I get to the end of the book. It’s like a race against the story itself.

However, The Wife Between Us was predictable. The only thing that “surprised” me happened in the very last chapter or so, and only because it was completely unnecessary to the story. The book had wrapped, and it was like the authors just wanted to toss something else in.

Additionally, the varying points of view are rather confusing. However, it doesn’t last the whole book, so it gets better. Also, I feel it necessary to mention a potential trigger warning for domestic abuse and emotional manipulation. That’s kind of a spoiler, but you’ll pick up on the signs before you get to that part of the story. It’s very obvious.

I gave The Wife Between Us four stars because it kept me engaged and I finished it quickly. I would recommend it if you’re looking for a quick read or something to take on vacation with you.
